April 22nd: Llanrhystud to Aberystwyth [11 miles] GREAT TO BE BACK IN HOME COUNTRY!!

Our walk today took us along some rugged coastline made more mysterious by the mists and rains that fell in the higher areas. Perhaps the highlight of the walk itself was meeting Griff Jones, rounding up and moving his sheep with his wonderful dog. Under Griff’s complete control, the dog moved the large flock through three fields with ease. It was a wonderful spectacle. Birds seen today include red kyte, buzzards, comorants, choughs and of course the ubiquitous seagull. The beauty of this walk from our perspective lies in its isolation. The two deserted farms we walked through reminded us once again of a time past…of hard but honest living… Aberystwyth looks great…the harbor and frontage…the recovery from the storms that battered the town…great to be back in the town where I was born…

Glad to see Aberystwyth has recovered and why was the Canadian flag flying? When is Oscar coming back ? Have you finished the Cardiganshire part of the coastal path, you both seem to be enjoying. Give our love to John and Jill and let us know if you receive our emails.
    Love to all x
