March 11: Porthcawl to Port Talbot
After we left our motorhome at the White Wheat campground on Zig-Zag lane, we were greeted at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl by 5 members of the Neath-Port Talbot Ramblers: Terry Griffiths, John Richards, David Smith, Lynne John and Carol Gilmore. We had a wonderful day, essentially guided through the area visiting sites and sights that we might have otherwise missed. We covered nearly 15 miles taking routes into the hills that overlook the industrial town of PortTalbot. As we were walking the final mile or so to the town
centre we were invited in a for a coffee by Bill Hatton, a local resident, who just happened to see us walk by!
We are watching you. You make mention of Lawrence of Arabia. Did you know that at one time he lived in Tremadoc next to Portmadoc. There is a plaque on the garden gate. Take care and good luck.
